Good intermediate level book If you are programming in Python, doing a lot of cut and paste and not fully understand what you are doing, this book may be for you. If you are looking to do to the next level without becoming a complete expert, this book may be for you. If you want a comprehensive book however, this book is not for you. But for those striving to have an intermediate level of ability, this is a great book.Great resource for intermediate Python users to round out their knowledge of the language I consider myself an 'early intermediate' Pythonista, with about three years of self-taught experience in the language, bolstered by all the good resources out there online. I first ran across Dan's page/blog through a Twitter link, I think, and have really enjoyed his Python Tricks emails. Some of them aren't news to me, but there have been multiple instances where they've given me a key insight into the behavior of Python, or an idea that's helped me improve my projects.As he notes in the Introduction, this book grew out of the Python Tricks emails, and it really shows. Dan has a knack for constructing code snippets that illustrate Python concepts in very few lines, and also for writing extremely clear descriptions of why they behave as they do. Further, even though Dan has years of Python experience, it seems clear to me he hasn't lost the sense of the ways in which Python can be confusing to new learners. I've only sampled here and there from his Buffet at this point, but have already gained two new concrete pieces of knowledge: bytearrays are mutable whereas bytes are not; and all it takes to create an abstract base class is to use metaclass=ABCMeta and decorate as needed with @abstractmethod. Even though I'd looked at the Python documentation for both of these before, I never quite understood either of them. But, Dan's phrasing and presentation made them crystal clear on my first read.One additional thing I like about the book is how Dan has included bits and pieces of his philosophy on Python, programming, writing good code, etc. Some people might be turned off by the editorializing, I suppose, but I really appreciate that the book provides these sorts of "meta" perspectives.All in all, an excellent resource for someone with modest to moderate Python experience looking to round out their knowledge of some of the more subtle features/behaviors of the language.A quick read to fill in any gaps in your python knowledge I'm an advanced python user and have worked at several startups, Google, and Microsoft, but I still found several tips in here that were new to me, and many others that I only knew because I'd learned them from colleagues when I worked at Google. For instance, I would usually just define an __str__ method on my custom classes and be lazy and not implement __repr__. But the book points out that if you want be lazy, just define __repr__ alone, as the default behavior of __str__ will call your __repr__ function anyway. I should have known this already but somehow it's a little thing I had missed when learning python. There are lots of bits of info like this: some you'll probably already know, but you might be surprised by a couple little tricks.One outstanding feature of the book is a short recap after each section, giving simple rules of thumb to to follow. This cleared up a lot of uncertainty for me about some python best practices. I really like the book "Fluent Python" as well, but this one has more simple and practical suggestions and was a very quick read.Highly recommended!

Good book with practical exercise! I genuinely like when people visually examine mazuma in different ways. This perspective is very well worth reading about and practicing. Read for your self. I am waiting for a society without any mazuma, which I ken is not just around the corner. But we have to rethink the values and this book is a good commencement.amazing book. Thin Paper... I am using a brush pen to practice and the paper is so thin that it is bleeding through onto the next practice page. You would think the would have used thicker paper knowing it was a practice book.Good for Beginners and those wanting to learn more about hand lettering/modern calligraphy Basically I have the artistic ability of a remote control LOL I have always wanted to learn how to write in a pretty way. I’ve tried official classic calligraphy and that was a nightmare. But then I started seeing a lot of stuff on Instagram and online about hand lettering and a new way of doing calligraphy. So my interest was definitely piqued. After quite a bit of research I found this book online and immediately bought it. I think this book is good for somebody like myself. A beginner with or without artistic talent. I bought myself a “Tombow beginNer “ Kit with pen, pencil, eraser, etc. I also got myself a notebook that I could practice in. I must say I became particularly motivated after realizing I could do this. While I’m not going to post any images because nobody needs to laugh that hard. LOL I believe with some practice I can be kind of good. I could make pretty envelopes, make signs, etc. etc. goodness knows I will never have a career or 1 million followers on Instagram for my lettering skills, but it’s nice to learn something new and put the creative side of my brain to work. If you want to learn about lettering and hand calligraphy, amp up the way you write/draw your letters, further your skills, etc. this book is quite useful. If you are more advanced you might not get as much out of it. It may be a tad bit of a disappointment if you are definitely advanced/more creative than somebody like me LOL But it would definitely make a good gift for somebody who has shown interest in lettering/calligraphy. I was going to buy the e-book version but for something like this I really like having the book right there in front of me. Plus there is practice space in the book. After I’ve used up that space I go onto my grid styled black-and-white hard covered notebook. I like keeping everything in one notebook so as to watch my progression or regression if I wait too long in between practice sessions. So practice practice practice that’s the only way to make it to Carnegie Hall and that’s the only way to become a lettering guru!This company also puts out other books that are quite awesomeI’ve NEVER done hand lettering or bullet journaling— 100% beginner and I love this book! I just got this book today and I’ve been having so much fun!! I think this book is an amazing deal for just $7! I haven’t gotten my brush pens yet so I’ve just been doing simple hand lettering with a mechanical pencil. Still super fun! Hat I recommend, and I didn’t do sadly, is to take pictures of the pages before you start writing in them or scan them so you can print them out and use them again if you want. Personally I forgot to do this but I don’t think it’s 100% necessary anyway because you can always get an extra notebook and trace! Anyway, am loving this book so far!

As I was reading it, I was reminded of the movie My Girl starring Anna Chlumsky and Macaulay Culkin.I got even more of that vibe toward the end of the novel, and I think had I read this when I was in the targeted age group, I would have been shattered.Even now, I enjoyed the book and can definitely understand how it won the Newbery Medal. In fact, I actually had to lie down for a while, to process what had happened.Bridge to Terabithia is all about friendship, understanding and coming of age. Jess starts out as a boy with the simple hope of wanting to be the fastest runner in his school, but through his friendship with Leslie, he begins to expand his world, taken in by the wild fantasies of Leslie's imagination.The only son in a family of five children, Jess is quite alone; old enough to understand that he has chores to be done, but young enough to dream big. When he makes a companion out of Leslie, it’s like a tribute to one’s own inner child. Didn’t we all have that friend that we would meet on the corner and play with at the park?The uncanny duo fit together like peas in a pod. It gives us hope that even a misunderstood boy in rural America can find the thing that they’ve been missing; the thing that will pull them out of the norm and into something more.This book has sense of adventure and a bit of sweet nostalgia (for the grown-ups). As a children’s book, it achieves a lot in terms of loss of innocence and coming of age, which I feel is quite appropriate (even required) for children growing up.It’s easy to forget some characters when you read many books, but then you get a book like Bridge to Terabithia; you have the wind knocked out of you, and you’ll likely never forget Jess and Leslie.Bittersweet but Beautiful This classic, bittersweet tale of friendship and loss should be compulsory reading in school, which is where I first read it myself. It shows that boys can be soft and girls can be brave while still maintaining confidence in their own personal identity as the boy or girl they were born to be.
