ISBN: 1454701374
Title: The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs Pdf 500 Classic & Original Patterns (Complete Crochet Designs)
Author: Linda Schäpper
Published Date: 2011
Page: 352
With 500 designs that range from classic patterns to originals you'll find nowhere else, this book is considered a benchmark needlework reference!

This stitchwork classic features 500 designs ranging from traditional patterns to original motifs—and crocheters of all levels will find essential information and inspiration on every page. Each design features a close-up color photograph, a diagram showing each stitch and its placement, and easy-to-follow instructions. A pictorial index displays thumbnail views of the designs for easy selection and navigation. No wonder The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs is the must-have reference for crocheters!

Love it! Others have complained about the pictures and no names for the stitch patterns. While this is true and the names bother me, I've got to say this is the most complete set of stitch patterns I've ever seen! The charts are a great addition, and the instructions are good. I am so happy I went ahead and bought this book. Right now I'm going through the applicable stitches (ones with a foundation repeat of 10 or less) and making swatches. I've made them in cotton yarn so they can be used for dish clothes. :) There are several stitches in this book that I've not seen elsewhere. Does this help with my crochet designing? You bet!Would I buy this again? In a heart beat! Maybe someday this author will come out with a "complete" book of edgings. :)If it weren't for the pictures, I'd love this book! I've recently gotten heavily into crochet, after being a knitter for years. I was dying for a book of patterns that would give me lots of scope for trying new crochet fabrics, and this book certainly fits that bill. With 500 different patterns, it could keep you crocheting for years without repeating. I've tried about 20 patterns so far, and all worked well, without the mistakes you sadly too often find in books like this.If it weren't for the pictures, this would be a 5 star book for sure. However, I REALLY don't like the pictures! They are done in a yarn that seems like an incredibly bad choice. There are so many yarns that would show the patterns crisply, but this yarn is kind of fuzzy. To add to that, the color choices for both the yarn and the backgrounds seemed designed not to show off the crocheting, but to muddy it. So, so many of the patterns look the same---like a muddled mess of yarn with just a hint of organization. When I actually crochet up them, they make some very pretty things, and I have to admit it's almost fun that way, like a surprise only hinted at by the picture, but I don't think everyone would enjoy having to actually try every pattern to see what it looks like. This is more just me being picky, but I'd also love it if the patterns had names. Even if they didn't come with names, if I were the author, I'd enjoy thinking up some, and naming patterns to me makes them much easier to remember and to picture.None of what I mentioned should discourage anyone from buying this book if they just want to have a whole, whole bunch of crochet patterns, with accurate patterns. I know I'll use this book a lot, and overall, I'm glad I got it. But I hope some day it's redone with better pictures. I'd buy that new edition for sure!Disappointing I've had this book on my wish list forever, so I was really excited when I could afford to order it. I received it a couple of days ago and, while it has lots of crochet stitch pictures and instructions, they're mostly of the lacy variety. There are a few (very few) of what I call "fabric" stitches--stitches that are variations of single, double and treble crochet that make a dense pattern. This was my first disappointment. My second disappointment was the book doesn't list the names for the various stitches. Part of what I love about the needle arts is the history and the names for stitches that have been in use for decades. For instance, Crow's Foot Lattice, Arcade, Moss, Crunch, Bow Tie. I don't understand how the author could do all of the research that went into the book without making note of the name of the stitch. I know she didn't invent these stitches and it wouldn't have been difficult to note the name of the stitch. I'm an intermediate to expert crocheter, and will use some of the patterns in the book. I'll just keep looking for a stitch encyclopedia that includes the names of the stitches.

Study and you'll pass - skim and you won't To get straight to the point - I passed on 10 April. Having said that, this was not my only training resource (I also used "A Cloud Guru" and "Linux Academy," both online video training sites). But what this book did do was give me the ability to sit down and read, at my own pace, and fill in the gaps inevitably left by the videos. YES, this book was written for the old interface. It doesn't mean you can't find anything on AWS now. In fact, if UI changes have completely derailed your study of the AWS CSA-A syllabus, then you're probably going to have trouble passing the exam anyway. It's not easy, even the Associate level. I am not a developer, I am a sysadmin. I will quickly become an obsolete dinosaur if I do not get up to speed on the "Dev" side of "DevOps", at least to a baseline degree of competency, and on the world's largest cloud platform.Amazon changes things on AWS at a frightening pace. No book ever published is going to be able to keep up with those changes. But the mechanics, the fundamentals, the underlying frameworks, are still the same. This book will teach you those. I highly recommend you also use a video training course. The video courses I used are for the 2017 exam - and you will never be tested on the UI itself. Having trained for the 2017 exam, I also agreed to take a beta exam (because it was 50% off) when registering on WebAssessor. The exam I took was 80 questions, instead of 60, and included questions on Kinesis, as well as making a clear distinction between NAT Gateways and NAT instances. Lots of VPC questions, lots of EC2, lots of RDS.Bottom line - don't rely on only a single source for study, especially on a platform as vast and complex as AWS. I became very frustrated a few days before my exam. Frankly, I didn't expect to pass. It didn't help that the staff at the Kryterion testing center had never given an Amazon exam before and I saw them refer to handwritten notes repeatedly (!!). You will not receive any sort of hardcopy confirmation that you passed from the testing center, so if they're not really sure what they're doing, stick around and make sure it gets submitted properly. I had an email from Kryterion waiting on me when I arrived home with a PDF of my certificate and the Certified AWS logos you're entitled to use once you pass. I don't even know if I'll receive a paper certificate in the mail! But if you study hard and you do the labs, you can pass. I'm living proof of that.Outdated. Missing critical info. I took the exam today. It asked me questions about ECS which is not covered at all in this book. It asked me detailed questions about API Gateway, which receives a one-paragraph overview in this book. This book _did_ include a section on the type of fire alarms and smoke detectors used at AWS data centers which, as you can guess, was not included in the test. I feel like this book could have been better.Excellent study guide for Amazon web services This guidebook provides great descriptions of the Amazon web services and how they work. The book is meant for passing the Associate Exam for Amazon web services, but it also working as a learning resource for AWS. I bought the book just to learn more rather than take the test, and I was pleased with the content of the book. There are quizzes at the end of each chapter which are fairly challenging. You have to read the chapter very carefully to get all the answers correct. Chapters start on basic AWS services such as EC2 and S3, and the book logically progresses to newer more complicated services. The last chapter focuses on best practices.Language in the book is direct and well written. The book does not feel like it has 7 authors as transitions are seamless from chapter to chapter. I learned a good deal about how the services work. The balance was reasonable between text and diagrams of architecture.Overall, I would recommend this book if you are studying for the exam, or if you are just looking to learn more about AWS.

Author: Ann Swanson
Published Date: 2019-01-08

Ann Swanson, MS, C-IAYT, LMT, E-RYT500Ann is a mind-body science educator. She holds a Master of Science in yoga therapy from Maryland University of Integrative Health, where she went on to become an adjunct faculty member. With years of experience tutoring and teaching anatomy and physiology in colleges, massage therapy schools, and yoga teacher training programs, she has refined the ability to make complex scientific concepts simple to understand. Ann uniquely applies cutting-edge research practically to yoga while maintaining the heart of the tradition. She believes that there is no one "right" alignment or way to do a yoga pose or practice; if you can breathe, you can do yoga. In her private practice, she makes yoga therapy, qigong, and mindfulness meditation accessible with personalized modifications. Her convenient online classes help busy people worldwide relieve pain and manage stress effectively. For more about Ann, head to www.AnnSwansonWellness.com or www.scienceof.yoga

Explore the physiology of 30 key yoga poses, in-depth and from every angle, and master each asana with confidence and control.

Did you know that yoga practice can help lower your blood pressure, decrease inflammation and prevent age-related brain changes?

Recent scientific research now backs up what were once anecdotal claims about the benefits of yoga to every system in the body. Science of Yoga reveals the facts, with annotated artworks that show the mechanics, the angles, how your blood flow and respiration are affected, the key muscle and joint actions working below the surface of each pose, safe alignment and much more.

With insight into variations on the poses and and a Q&A section that explores the science behind every aspect of yoga, look no further than Science of Yoga to achieve technical excellence in your practice and optimise the benefits of yoga to your body and mind.

Excellent Resource I started yoga teacher training just after the first of the year. While researching different text books, I came across this book and thought I'd give it a look. Boy, has it turned out to be a wonderful resource!I love the way that yoga poses and their affects on the body are presented clearly. Anatomy and physiology concepts have been easier to visualize though the clear illustrations too. This book will prove to be helpful when I plan my yoga sequences.A must have for all yoga practitioners! Anyone who practices yoga needs to own this book! Science of Yoga breaks down the body systems and how yoga benefits each system accompanied by beautifully illustrated anatomy diagrams to show which muscles, joints, etc are being targeted in each pose. This book is essential for seasoned practitioners or those wanting to start their wellness journey with yoga. Highly recommend!!!That one book on your bookshelf you will reach for again and again... My bookshelves are filled with beautifully written and wonderfully informative books on everything yoga. Some would think I have all the books I could ever possibly need or want on the subject of yoga. Not so. I am pretty excited about this new book - Science of Yoga - by Ann Swanson. It's the kind of book that those new to yoga and those who have practiced for years will want to have as a resource - a book they will refer to again and again. The book is brilliantly laid out and very impressive in its scope. Anatomy and physiology has been simplified and broken down to make it user friendly and understandable for virtually anyone. It's fact filled and food for the curious mind. It's the kind of book that can be consumed in bits and pieces but I recommend reading the whole book first so you don't miss any of the great information that this author shares. Anatomy and physiology is just the beginning of this book. It offer's so much more. Pictures clearly showing various asanas/poses in seated, standing, inversions and floor that depict joints, the muscles engaged, muscles engaging while stretching, and the muscles stretching. There's more - there's tips, variations and benefits to each pose...and still again, there's more. A question's and answer's section to guide you into deeper understandings and how to utilize and access the information and research out there. Another section goes over precautions and suggestions for specific health issues. The glossary included is a wonderful addition to this book. Like the rest of the book, it is clear and concise. This will be the book on your bookshelf that you will go back to again and again and again...

The Undoing Project Download

ISBN: B01GI6S7EK
Title: The Undoing Project Pdf A Friendship That Changed Our Minds

“Brilliant. . . . Lewis has given us a spectacular account of two great men who faced up to uncertainty and the limits of human reason.” —William Easterly, Wall Street Journal

Forty years ago, Israeli psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky wrote a series of breathtakingly original papers that invented the field of behavioral economics. One of the greatest partnerships in the history of science, Kahneman and Tversky’s extraordinary friendship incited a revolution in Big Data studies, advanced evidence-based medicine, led to a new approach to government regulation, and made much of Michael Lewis’s own work possible. In The Undoing Project, Lewis shows how their Nobel Prize–winning theory of the mind altered our perception of reality.

Must release an edited version With no doubt, I had great fun reading “The Undoing Project.”I was introduced to the work of Tversky and Kahneman as a college sophomore in 1988 by my teacher, hydrologist Joseph Harrington, who was a great admirer of their ideas. The beauty of what is now called “Prospect Theory” has inevitably stuck with me since. It is only in retrospect that I have come to understand it was radical for its time.So I swallowed whole “Thinking About Thinking” within a week of having read the Michael Lewis review on Bloomberg. And I’ve since really enjoyed the recent near-autobiography of Richard Thaler’s, as well as many of Dan Ariely’s books.Well, you don’t have to believe me on this, but Michael Lewis actually explains the concepts better! No joke, he really does. And he provides an unbelievably deep, personal and sensitive account of the explosive relationship between the two giants. A very believable account too. The research done by Michael Lewis really shows. He’s had phenomenal access too, it seems. And yet, the book does not hang together terribly well. Chapters 1 and 8 should not have made it into the book, they ought to have been relegated to the pages of Vanity Fair, where the author regularly provides fantastic material.More to the point, what we have here is a bunch of chapters that, chronological order notwithstanding, do not constitute a book. The incredible material, the wonderful expositions, the deep insights are all present and correct, but they fail to meld into a narrative. Even the title of the book, much as it has its roots in the work of Tversky and Kahneman, does not do justice to their contribution. It really pains me to say this, especially because the author’s previous effort, “Flash Boys,” was a genuine five-star book. Perhaps that’s the problem. Maybe if I was reading this straight off of “Boomerang” I’d have found it great. As it stands, I’m not sure I could recommend it to the general public. If, on the other hand, you have the remotest interest in Behavioral Economics, you genuinely can’t not read “The Undoing Project” and you are guaranteed to enjoy it.

Chronicle Download

ISBN: B000000XB9
Title: Chronicle Pdf The 20 Greatest Hits

One of the most essential collections a rock fan can own their biggest hits on one double-length disc. Proud Mary; Who'll Stop the Rain; Travelin' Band; Fortunate Son; Lodi; Down on the Corner; Susie Q; Bad Moon Risin', and more. Few bands of the 1960s retained as much a sense of the roots of rock and roll as did Creedence Clearwater Revival. Their music is rife with country, rockabilly, and R&B influences, a combination that produced several hit singles--most of which are present on this collection. These include "I Heard It through the Grapevine," "Lodi," "Up Around the B ," "Who'll Stop the Rain," and of course "Bad Moon Rising." This is an excellent greatest-hits collection, and a perfect introduction to the music of a band that has been enduringly influential. --Genevieve Williams

CCR in my car! One cannot maintain the posted speed limit when one suddenly has the opening riffs of "Goin' Up Around the Bend" blasting out of one's all-wheel-drive granny/grocery "SUV" speakers. One must be vigilant, of course, especially when getting a stern look from someone close to your own age.At that moment, one must smugly nod, saw-LOOT and laugh. Enjoy life while you can, my friends.Be wary First copy I received had serious surface noise, unacceptably warped discs. Second copy was perfect but the discs were dirty with paper cutting from the sleeves and reauired two passes each side with a roller to make playable. The sound quality is what made them 4 star despite the hitchesDoes NOT contain Grapevine long version I am very, very irritated. This double vinyl set does NOT contain the long (11 min) version of Grapevine as advertised and reviewed above. WTF?!?!?! That's why I chose it!! Angry.
